Arthur M. Fowler has been practicing law in Tennessee for over 40 years. During this time, he has focused his practice in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, contracts, insurance disputes, land use, business law, and wills and estates. In the area of litigation, Art has handled numerous cases in both state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. Over the years, Art has helped entrepreneurs and existing businesses design and implement strategies to start a business, grow a small or struggling enterprise, and maximize an existing company’s potential.
Art attended The Webb School before graduating from Wofford College with a B.A. in Economics in 1968. Art served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Combat Infrantryman’s Badge.
In 1973, Art graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He is also a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA). He was a member of the Executive Counsel of the General Practice Section of the American Bar Association (ABA), and he co-edited that Section’s manual on “How to Find the Courthouse.” He has also served on the editorial staff of the Litigation News, which is published by the Litigation Section of the ABA. Art also served as Secretary of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Division.
Art is licensed in Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Arthur M. Fowler III graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1997 with bachelor’s degrees in Economics and History. After graduating college, Arthur attended Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and in 1999 obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting. Upon returning to Tennessee, he attended The University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys Law School, graduating in 2002 cum laude. He served on the Law Review editorial board. He has served on the Boards of Second Harvest and United Way as well as advising several local non-profit organizations.
In 2014 and 2015 Arthur was recognized for his service to the community by receiving the Community Award (2014) and Outstanding Service Award (2015) from the Pro Bono Project, by Legal Aid of Tennessee.
Arthur focuses his practice on probate, estate planning, personal injury, wrongful death, civil and commercial litigation, business law, land disputes, landlord/tenant issues, construction disputes, and mechanics’ lien issues. Arthur has published articles on the Tennessee mechanics’ lien statutes in the University of Memphis Law Review and the Tennessee Bar Journal.
Arthur is licensed in Tennessee and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
